The NEW American Dream

I remember when I graduated college at age 21. I was super excited to move out of my parents’ house, but…the way my bank account was set up.

I didn’t have the funds I needed to make my move to independence. It took me 2 years to buy a car, save and find a place. When I did, I was surprised at how expensive “freedom” was. Le sigh…

There were so many things to pay for now that I was “grown”. I had to buy pots & pans, something to eat with (plates, silverware, cups etc.), and furniture.


I, like many new college graduates, opted to go to IKEA… for everything, especially furniture. Why? Their prices were just right and the choices were super cute.

Fast forward 15 years… I know right?! I don’t look a day over 25. *insert I-dare-you-to-say-something smile*.

I’m now running a successful business, The Budgetnista, with staff, clients and customers worldwide. Despite my growth, I never had an “official” office...until recently.

Less than a month ago I signed my very first lease for an office space. Now I’m left with similar decisions as my 21-year old self. Where am I going to find everything I need for a super cute, funky office, without breaking the bank?

One word: IKEA

As I’ve transitioned forward, so has IKEA! Their quality, varied selection and range of designs have only improved while maintaining their fair and Budgetnista Certified prices.


Not everyone is interested in the “white picket fence”. The new Dream is to live life on your own terms.

So what does all of this mean? It means I’ll be headed back to IKEA again, this time with a slightly larger budget, but the same excitement in my heart. It means that you can LIVE RICHER and IKEA is here to help you do so. It means that as your dreams shift and grow, there is always a space and place for you to realize them.

And lastly, it means that my new office is about to be soooo LIT! Lol! (stay tuned for before & after pics).
