My favorite (fun) tool to teach kids to save.

My favorite (fun) tool to teach kids to save.

Remember being in bed as a little kid and barely being able to sleep because your birthday was in the morning?

And you just KNEW that everyone had been getting all those hints you'd been dropping about that brand new bike you wanted.

You know, the one with the candy coated paint, 3 speed settings, and the black bell that alerted all the slow pokes to move out of your way??

But, instead of a ended up with socks, coloring books, and shoes that didn’t fit.

Still grateful...but I’m saying, lol. 🙂

Here's how you can turn gift-giving...allowance pay-out...and crushing savings goals...into a win-win situation for everyone involved!

It’s wonderful to “know” people (sometimes) because my good friend and super-saving mom, Tanya Van Court, is the genius behind Goalsetter awesome FREE savings, gifting, allowance and financial literacy platform - made just for kids!

Goalsetter is an app that gets kids excited about saving up their cash and gets family and friends excited about supporting their dreams!

Using Goalsetter is as easy as 1-2-3 (clears throat for a Jackson Five attempt):

1. Savings: Sign up for your account and pick a savings goal to start contributing to right away. You can choose something small like summer camp or save for bigger goals over time, like college.

2. Gifting: Instead of more gifts that get re-gifted or returned, help a child avoid that "new bike disappointment" by supporting a dream goal that they've set for themselves. Use the GoalCard feature to send any amount and have a little fun with it by adding a video or photo!

3. Earning: The Goalsetter Allowance feature makes it easy for kids to earn money and save it too! You can choose cool features like the "Entrepreneur in the Making" track to assign individual values to chores so they can earn and save. With the weekly reminders and transfers into their Goalsetter savings, there’s no guess-work and it all “goes down” auto-magically!

Woot woot!

Check out this awesome quote from an already happily saving Goalsetter family:

"Goalsetter was introduced to us by my daughter's school, and it has changed my kids' lives. They are now working to earn allowance, saving for their own bikes, and they know exactly how much is in their Goalsetter savings accounts. We tried another savings program, but it wasn't built for kids at all. Goalsetter hit the nail on the head and created an app that kids love and parents do too.” John Jack, dad of 2 kids in Boston Public Schools

BONUS: One of my favorite features (besides the money) of the Goalsetter app are the “It’s Lit” Quizzes, where kids learn healthy savings habits, financial knowledge and math skills through the voices of children’s characters, musicians, and celebrities. Quiz levels are specifically mapped to meet national financial literacy standards for K-12th grade users!!

Yesss, the former preschool teacher in me loves ALLOFDIS!!!

A+ for Tanya for creating this valuable resource for our children...and A+ for you for grabbing this free financial resource for your family!

P.S. No kiddos? No problem...share this blog post with someone in your life who does!
